Sunstroke Rain

Sunstroke Rain, the brainchild and anagram of Karin Turesson, shines in genre-blending electronic dance music.
Known for combining magnetic synths with playful melodies and direct lyrics, she has enchanted audiences across Europe. Karin has previously partnered with iconic artists like Nina Persson (Cardigans), Robyn and Tingsek. Her impressive portfolio spans music for theater, films and television, including compositions for symphony orchestras and Swedish TV programs. She has also created music for numerous adverts and documentary films. Her talent has earned her awards and scholarships from prestigious institutions like the Swedish Arts Grants Committee and STIM. Sunstroke Rain’s debut album ”Spark” released in 2022, received critical acclaim and notable airplay, including a tribute to Greta Thunberg on KEXP.

Mera Bhai

Mera Bhai, also known as Karthik Poduval, brings his versatility as a producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist to the project. As a founding member of the psych band Flamingods, his music mixes diverse influences into a truly unique sound. Mera Bhai’s work has garnered attention from Mixmag, DJ Mag, Music Tech mag, Amazing Radio, BBC Asian network, BBC 6 Music and many more, all showcasing his ingenious approach. He’s also an integral part of the Asian Underground collective Daytimers, cementing his influential presence in the music scene.

The collaboration

Sunstroke Rain and Mera Bhai met for the first time in September 2023 in London and spent four days in his studio. Their remarkable synergy brought together eclectic influences which resulted in a sound that is exciting and contemporary. This brilliant blend of styles highlights their distinct musical chemistry and creative connection. Sunstroke Rain has shared her excitement about the project, stating, ”I’m really happy about the result! We made this song after only four days together in his studio. As we didn’t know each other before, this is something that really surprised us!” Reflecting on their partnership, Mera Bhai shared, “I loved working with Karin. Sunstroke Rain is such an interesting project and it was a breath of fresh air working with someone focused on pushing musical boundaries. She tries her utmost to create music that works but sits outside conventions.”
